They are a costume desginer *,
researcher and performer
based in Antwerp, Belgium.

Coming from a background in dance, design and textiles, Sinon’s work revolves around the epistemologies of emotions and alexithymia—the difficulty to express, recognize, and describe emotions within oneself and others. Costume (costumbradura) act as a somatic-embodied and artistic tool to invite emotional awareness, enabling the process of construction of emotions within the wearer and the spectator.
They developed The Flower Dialogues, a performatve and creative methodology to explore emotional constructs and become aware of our ability to experience emotions through the sensorial engagement with flowers.
These poetic processes transmute into somatic-embodied costumes that translate blooming emotions, inviting both wearer and spectator to reflect on the construction of feelings and the sociopolitical conditions that shape them.
Indeed, Sinon’s sense of urgency stems from the Alexithymic Period, their neologism that categorizes the historical and cultural moment in which the process of construction of emotions is systemically disrupted, from the accumulation of global crises, the functioning of late capitalism, and the hegemony of technoplutocracy that preserve the persisting extractivist and colonial emotional hierarchies that reduce other-than-western subjective experiences of emotions.
Performance, both public and private, costumbradura as emotional heterotopias that question social reality. These activations render visible the circulation of blossoming emotions, disrupting normative expectations and inviting experiencers to construct subjective emotional experiences. Costumbradura acts as a radical tool to interrupt and live within the affective inbetweeness of complex emotions.
This costume-led research seeks to reclaim the experience of emotion as a place of trouble, wonder, and resistance, proposing costume as anautonomous active artifact for emotional reconnection.
