As a designer, I have a material mentality. I need to create something material, with a function and an end. Our universe is material. Our spirituality is then also material.
The thread has a past. It has gone through several processes of transformation. It has changed shape and colour. This thread has a function: to connect. A thread that is considered to be unsuitable can no longer find its purpose. It wanders around waiting for a resolution.
I gave a new function to the thread and transformed it into a choreographic object. The task of unravelling engages the body to its full extent. Through the repetition of the gesture, a new choreography takes shape.
This performance explores the limits of the thread and the body and how these two elements interact, become movement, costume and space.
